Online Course Procedures

Once enrolled you click the course that you want in the “AVAILABLE COURSES” column on the “HOME” page for courses (This is not the “HOME” page for the rest of the website which can be accessed through “UNIVERSITY” tab on far left.).  The first block is a summary of what the course contains and usually has general reference materials. Next there will be a block for each week with various assignments and resources for that week. Sometimes you will just need to read certain pages of the text. Sometimes you will need to research something and submit what you find. Other times there will be a quiz. Most of the quizzes are true/false or essay, with some multiple choice. There may be other assignments like a chat or Skype session with the facilitator and other students. All courses are pass/fail or incomplete if you do not complete the course work. The assignments are intended to make sure you understand the material offered. If you have trouble with any aspect of this, contact your facilitator and see if there are any alternative ways you can study. Many of the weekly quizzes can be taken multiple times until you get it right. The facilitator may comment on your answers and even ask you to resubmit your homework or take a quiz again. The quizzes should prepare you for the final exam, which normally can only be taken once. XFVU encourages you to challenge that which is not clear or you do not understand. XFVU welcomes your evaluation of the courses so that we can make them more useful to other students. If you need more time at the end of the trimester to complete your papers or take the final exam, you should contact your facilitator.
